Maria Markaki received the M.S. degree in physics from the University of Athens, Greece, in 1992 and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Crete, Greece, in 2011. The subject of her Ph.D. dissertation was feature extraction from multidimensional representations—such as auditory and modulation spectra — of audio signals for pattern analysis and classification tasks.
From 1995 until 2001, she was with the Institute of Applied Mathematics at FORTH, as a research assistant. In 2003, she joined the Institute of Computer Science at FORTH. She has over 30 peer-reviewed papers.
